Over 100 hundred million users, including at least 15 million minors, now employ e-cigarettes, fueling a recent surge of nicotine addiction, per recent global health data.

"Numerous of people are stopping, or not taking up tobacco use because of tobacco control initiatives by countries throughout the globe," the official commented.

"As an answer to this strong progress, the tobacco sector is pushing back with recent nicotine products, forcefully aiming at youth. Governments must act faster and more forcefully in enacting proven tobacco-control policies," the representative added.

The vaping statistics are a projection since some countries - 109 in sum, and numerous in Africa and South-East Asia - lack statistics.

Based on the report, as of this past February this year, at least 86 million e-cigarette users were adults, primarily in wealthy nations.

And at minimum 15 million youth aged 13 and 15 already vape, based on research from 123 countries.

While many nations have tried to implement e-cigarette regulations to address youth vaping in the past few years, by the conclusion of 2024, 62 countries yet had no regulation in operation, and 74 countries had no minimum age at which e-cigarettes can be bought, says the public health organization.

Simultaneously, tobacco usage has been decreasing - from an projected 1.38 billion users in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024.

Occurrence of tobacco consumption among females dropped the greatest - from 11% in 2010 to 6.6% in 2024.

With males, the decrease was from 41.4% in 2010 to 32.5% in 2024.

But one in five of mature individuals worldwide yet employs tobacco.
