Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Match at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday

Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou this Saturday. They will welcome the Basque side in domestic competition 30 months since relocating to allow renovations to start.

“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees can be present based on approved permits. When completed, it will accommodate almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed finished work included a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.

Recent Activities

Barcelona held an open training session on the home pitch earlier this month. Officials stated approval is being pursued from Uefa to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht on 9 December at Camp Nou. Their recent games have been held at the Olympic Stadium.
