Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor stands accused of performing assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
