Los Angeles witnessed citywide celebrations after the Dodgers clinched a thrilling seven-game World Series championship. Fans across the globe united with Angelenos in celebration, marking the initial time in 25 years that a franchise has secured consecutive championships.
Celebration Parade Draws Massive Crowds
Los Angeles area events included a downtown parade on Monday morning, a ticketed rally at Dodger Stadium, and impromptu gatherings across the city.
Social media videos depict countless of Los Angeles residents flooding city center avenues, many carrying homemade signs and Dodger flags. The squad was seen riding high on a open-top bus through the crowds, hoisting the championship trophy proudly.
“I’m already thinking about the next championship we’re going to do this,” Shohei Ohtani stated through an interpreter.
The parade route concluded at the stadium, where the players walked out to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ spinning music and Ice Cube cruising a light blue classic car around the stadium’s outfield.
Early Celebrations and Athlete Responses
Festivities started prior to the procession, with supporters lighting flares in the roads of Downtown Los Angeles on Sunday night.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, named the MVP of the championship, spoke plainly about the victory.
“We refuse to lose,” Yamamoto stated. “I adore this team. I love Los Angeles.”
Mixed Reactions and Community Spirit
In contrast, Mark Walter received a cooler welcome at the rally. Recordings from the event appear to show Walter walking onstage to a combination of cheers and boos, with negative shouts interrupting his address.
The World Series served as a positive moment in what has been a challenging year for Los Angeles. An estimated 225,000 people attended to the championship parade last year, and according to Dodgers player Freddie Freeman, supporters this year demonstrated as much if not more enthusiasm.
“I feel like it’s nearly twice from last year,” he said. “The supporters are incredible. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
