Pat Bamford Signs With the Blades After Initiating Derogatory Chants About Manager Chris Wilder

The striker is now a member of Sheffield United only half a year following instigating derogatory chants directed at the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

This experienced forward, without a club after departing from Leeds United, has agreed to a contract with the Championship strugglers through the winter. Bamford's lengthy career at Elland Road was ended through agreement this past summer.

One of the player's last memorable actions as a Leeds player involved leading abusive chants regarding Chris Wilder amid the club’s promotion celebrations in April. Now, the one-cap England international is set to play for Wilder as the Blades’ manager seeks to rescue his beloved club away from the bottom places.

Previous Conflict Involving Bamford and the Manager

Both men had history before Leeds moved up back to the Premier League the previous campaign while Sheffield United lost the promotion decider to Sunderland. Wilder called the forward as a "muppet" when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United won automatic promotion while Leeds United fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation & Looking Ahead

Everything seems has been forgiven and forgotten with United, the league's least productive attack, urgently requiring of improvement in attack and Bamford hoping to rejuvenate his playing days.

The Wilder chant spread widely this spring. An apologetic Patrick and the Leeds manager, Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the next day.

Chris Wilder said back then: “Spoke with Pat recently and I have no issue at all with it. I’m not sure about the language from a fellow pro! But I appreciated and respected him giving me a call.

“We had 20 minutes and the same again I spoke to Daniel as well and we had a longer discussion with him and he's a super guy, a top guy. When I was playing we used to give it and accept it and that’s an integral part of football across all levels, even on a Sunday morning. I have absolutely no issue. I'm fine with it and I said that to Patrick.”
